On the occasion of the 275th anniversary of the birth of Francisco de Goya, the Goya in Aragon Foundation has produced an 8-minute animated short film, entitled "You can call me Goya" aims to bring the figure of Francisco de Goya closer to schoolchildren. The Foundation is thus expanding its educational offerings through a new educational resource aimed at primary school students. The aim of this audiovisual piece is for schoolchildren to learn about his biography and learn to appreciate, in a fun and entertaining way, the rich artistic legacy of the painter.
By way of storytelling, a Goya in first person explains all the contents (historical, artistic, cultural context, his works...) combining a drawn atmosphere with the presentation of real pictorial works. A very visually attractive didactic resource for children.
The video describes, within an educational and family context, who Francisco de Goya was, when he lived, his contributions to the world of painting, and the techniques he used: oil paintings, fresco paintings, tapestry cartoons and engraving. In addition, reference is made to his travels, most important works, artistic legacy and also some curiosities.
In short, the aim is to awaken the curiosity of the students about Goya's character and to help them learn to identify some of his works, as well as the different artistic techniques he used. In addition, this format allows schoolchildren to involve their families in the content addressed, encouraging them to take an interest in the life of Francisco de Goya and encourage them to visit the museums, halls or monuments where his work is preserved.
The short film is illustrated by the Zaragozan artist David Guirao and presents a chronological journey narrated (and subtitled) in first person by the actor Juan Luis Pérez from Teatro La Clac, using Goya's paintings, his cartons and his magnificent collection of engravings as the main narrative thread. This helps children to better assimilate the contents.
